Quotes about music

Last ‘top 5’ post of the week is dedicated to music. Writing, music, good liquor, food and friends. What can be better? The weekend! Happy Friday dumplings. xo

  1. After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.- Aldous Huxley
  2. Music . . . can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable. – Leonard Bernstein
  3. If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. – Albert Einstein
  4. Rock and roll ain’t nothing but jazz with a hard backbeat. – Keith Richards
  5. Play it fuckin’ loud! – Bob Dylan

Simple twist of fate

“He hears the ticking of the clocks
And walks along with a parrot that talks
Hunts her down by the waterfront docks where the sailers all come in
Maybe she’ll pick him out again how long must he wait?
One more time for a simple twist of fate.”

– Bob Dylan

I like this song a lot. In fact I’m listening to it right now. What’s not to love about a man who has a one night stand with a woman he stalks and then continues to hunt her ass down by the docks? It’s a love story really. Although a simple trip to the courthouse could solve her problems. Just sayin’.

iPod time: It’s all over now, baby blue

Today I’ll be locked inside a room writing until my eyes cross/bleed/fall-out. Hey, it could happen. Maybe. Anyway, this can only mean one thing… it’s iPod time! Music and writing go hand in hand, and this is the first song that popped up on my shuffle, so I thought I’d share. It’s just a segment of the song to maybe inspire you too. Or not. But the picture for this post is pretty to look at. So enjoy 🙂

“All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home
All your reindeer armies, are all going home
The lover who just walked out your door
Has taken all his blankets from the floor
The carpet, too, is moving under you
And it’s all over now, Baby Blue

Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you
Forget the dead you’ve left, they will not follow you
The vagabond who’s rapping at your door
Is standing in the clothes that you once wore
Strike another match, go start anew
And it’s all over now, Baby Blue” – Bob Dylan

Q: What’s playing on YOUR iPods today? Let me know in the comment section or on Twitter!
