Cheers to 2017!

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.” – Neil Gaiman

Happy New Year’s Eve, friends! Thank you all so much for spending your time with me during this wild debut year. I can’t believe I get to go on another journey with you for book two. (Title reveal coming soon!) I’m grateful for everything, especially the friendships I’ve made with my fellow debut authors, seasoned vets, and each and every reader, librarian, bookstagrammer, and blogger. You have all been shining stars and I’m so humbled to have shared this adventure with you.

2017 is a new chapter, a new opportunity to shine our lights. A way for us to rage against darkness by promoting goodness, light and love. Let’s all make some wonderful art next year. And the year after, and forever more. Stay tuned for some pretty fun announcements in the coming weeks and months!  #2016bestnine #stalkingjacktheripper

If you as a reader cannot wait to begin chatting about the book, fear not! There is a Stalking Jack the Ripper read along Goodreads group with discussion threads for each of the chapter segments. Be for warned, these are discussion threads so everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Also this group discussion is to talk about the opinions of the book and not to attack the author personally. Bonus SJTR Character Sketches

I have been dancing around the interwebs all week with each new character sketch that the endlessly talented Phantom Rin unveiled in the STALKING JACK THE RIPPER universe, and wanted to do a round-up for anyone who may have missed out on the fun.

Rin just shared some new illustrations with me, so keep an eye out on Facebook, twitter, tumblr, and instagram if you’d like to see them the day they’re posted. I’ll also post and share them on my accounts as well. Gah! I’m so in awe of the way she captured the essence of each character. I’ll try and emerge from the writing cave to do another round-up post next week.

Here’s exclusive quotes from Stalking Jack the Ripper to go along with the badass illustrations. Enjoy! xoxo

Liza, Audrey’s cousin and best friend:

“Wield your assets like a blade, Cousin. No man has invented a corset for our brains. Let them think they rule the world. It’s a queen who sits on that throne. Never forget that. There’s no reason you can’t wear a frock to work, and don the finest gown and dance the night away. But only if it pleases you.” – Liza, STALKING JACK THE RIPPER.

Superintendent William Blackburn, lead investigator:

Superintendent Blackburn shook his head, his fair hair catching the light of the sun. “I’d inquire about the weather, but I’m sure you’d like to speak of other things, Miss Wadsworth.” He squinted toward the body, shielding his eyes with his hand. “Seems our boy gave us two more victims.” – Blackburn, STALKING JACK THE RIPPER

Nathaniel Wadsworth, Audrey’s brother:

“Are we terrified to let the girl out of the protective bubble again? Heaven forbid she catch pox and perish. Oh, wait,” Nathaniel cocked his head. “That’s happened before, hasn’t it?” He dramatically grabbed my wrist, checking for a pulse, then staggered back. “By God, Father. She’s quite alive!” – Nathaniel Wadsworth, STALKING JACK THE RIPPER

Stalking Jack the Ripper Character Sketches

I’m deep into my book two deadline and haven’t had as much time to post as I’d like. BUT I have to say one thing…Oh. My. Gosh. I am blown away by ALL. THE. SUPPORT. You are making this debut experience bigger and more amazing than I’d ever dreamed it could be.

Thank you. Thank you for all the tweets and retweets and posts and bookstagrams and friendship across all of my social media platforms. Your reviews and word of mouth recommendations are so very humbling and help more than you know. ❤

Fun things are coming up soon, and I wanted to share a little sneak preview with you today. I’m absolutely in love with PhantomRin’s art–I mean, have you seen her original works??? So much talent. When she agreed to collaborate with some STALKING JACK THE RIPPER designs I nearly fainted. Please check out her tumblr and instagram and twitter and everywhere you can.

Without further adieu…here is one of her sketches of my main characters, Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell. Can you believe September is less than two months away?!?!?!

Behind the scenes pics from the STALKING JACK THE RIPPER cover shoot

Oh. Em. Geeeee. You guys have been INCREDIBLE with your early support and love of STALKING JACK THE RIPPER! I have been so impressed with all the bookstagrams and photos on instagram and twitter, and all the excited tweets and buzz. Y’all are seriously amazing. I can’t even describe how much your excitement means to me. Seriously. Each tweet or message or note is a treasure that I’m going to hoard forever. To celebrate all of the excitement over SJtR, and to say thank you, I thought I’d share some exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures from the cover shoot. Sound good?!

All cover shoot photos were taken by my super-talented and lovely editor, Jenny Bak. (The ARC picture is from my personal photo library.) Enjoy this sneak peek at the hard work that went into the cover we all adore so much.

Thank you to art director Tracy Shaw and uber talented photographer Carrie Schechter for bringing Audrey Rose and Victorian London to life.

Now onto the good stuff!!!!

Every badass Victorian girl needs a good dagger while stalking infamous killers, luckily we had plenty to choose from:

Great hair is also a must. The makeup artist was a complete genius with taking our modern model and giving her that authentic Victorian feel.
