Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Happy autumn! <33333333

Today’s ‘top 5’ theme is winter: dedicated to the snow that’s heading towards New York.

  1. Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius. – Pietro Aretino
  2. I like these cold, gray winter days. Days like these let you savor a bad mood. – Bill Watterson
  3. The color of springtime is in the flowers, the color of winter is in the imagination. – Terri Guillemets
  4. Spring, summer, and fall fill us with hope; winter alone reminds us of the human condition. – Mignon McLaughlin
  5. Brew me a cup for a winter’s night. For the wind howls loud and the furies fight; Spice it with love and stir it with care, And I’ll toast our bright eyes, my sweetheart fair. – Minna Thomas Antrim

Delicious Autumn

George Eliot, I like this. It makes me think of the time I smoked… never mind about that.
