Blame it on the mistletoe

Here’s a poem for all you kissing mistletoe’d fools out there. (Myself included. Probably.)

“Sitting under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.

Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen – and kissed me there.”

May your holiday glasses always be filled, and with any luck nothing’ll get spilled! I rap on weekends at weddings and bar mitzvah’s. (That’s a complete lie. Please don’t send emails trying to hire me. The most I will do if I’m forced to attend your nuptials, is drink at the open bar until the wee hours of the morning. And sing karaoke. Poorly.)

Wishing you, and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Feliz Navidad y prospero Año Nuevo!
