Don’t say it was ‘delightful’…

Happy Monday! Since I’m still scribbling away at my next book, a quote about writing felt right. Also C.S. Lewis is a force to be reckoned with, so here’s some writing advice from the man himself. Hope your day is filled to the brim with caffeine, writing, and minimal cursing… I take that last part back. Cursing is fun.

“Don’t say it was delightful; make us say delightful when we’ve read the description. You see, all those words (horrifying, wonderful, hideous, exquisite) are only like saying to your readers Please will you do the job for me.”
-C.S. Lewis

I’m absolutely fantastically horrified that it has been implied that I’ve tried too hard to make you indulge in the exquisite delicious prose I’ve been trying desperately to bring to your… wait. I’m doing it again, aren’t I?
