STARTERS: Survival is just the beginning…

I know a bunch of you LURVED the HUNGER GAMES (as much as I did) so I’m sharing a book that’s getting some great buzz. Word on the street is, Lissa Price has created something REALLY special with her YA futuristic thriller debut, STARTERS.

The tagline alone makes me salivate like a rabid animal. God HELP the UPS man if I don’t have it by Tuesday morning. Speaking of that…it’s coming out TOMORROW!!! Wheee! You should grab a copy and read it with me, then we can make tea, and braid each others hair, and everything.

Here’s the book blurb to whet your appetite:

Callie lost her parents when the Spore Wars wiped out everyone between the ages of twenty and sixty. She and her little brother, Tyler, go on the run, living as squatters with their friend Michael and fighting off renegades who would kill them for a cookie. Callie’s only hope is Prime Destinations, a disturbing place in Beverly Hills run by a mysterious figure known as the Old Man.

He hires teens to rent their bodies to Enders—seniors who want to be young again. Callie, desperate for the money that will keep her, Tyler, and Michael alive, agrees to be a donor. But the neurochip they place in Callie’s head malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her renter, living in her mansion, driving her cars, and going out with a senator’s grandson. It feels almost like a fairy tale, until Callie discovers that her renter intends to do more than party—and that Prime Destinations’ plans are more evil than Callie could ever have imagined.

  1. Ohhhh, that sounds like a must read to me! But I’m already overbudget on my book spending for the month. Yup, it’s that bad that I have to have a book budget. LOL But I’ll note it on my Goodreads!

    1. I have a book budget too! Otherwise I’d be eating pages for dinner and spilling ink in my gas tank to get around 🙂

AND…April will be here before you know it! Another month, another brand new book allowance 🙂

    1. I’m not gonna lie, I sort of loved it 🙂 I think Lissa did an amazing job keeping the reader engaged and turning those pages. I had a hard time putting the darn book down, so I could do my own writing!

I can’t wait to see where the story goes/how it finishes in ENDERS. Definitely a nice standout in a crowded genre, in my humble opinion.

Now, I need to know what YOU thought of it! 🙂
